It has been such a long time since I last posted that I felt kind of embarrassed to even post here anymore. But, I do enjoy looking back on my blog and now regret that I didn’t update it as I have pretty much forgotten everything that has happened in the last few months. So, here I am, starting anew.
I can’t write too much as I am under the weather, but thought I should take advantage of the time since Josh took the kids over to his parent’s house for a little while.
We are doing just fine, minus the colds we’ve been passing around for the last two months. I thought we were all better last week until Sydney developed a cough and Easton developed a runny nose. Then I had a sore throat last night and feel congested today. I think I’m going to go around the house and spray everything with Lysol and then dump all toys in to a bleach filled bathtub. (Don’t worry, I’ll rinse them well)
Sydney is wonderful. I’ve been thinking about how much she has changed since her last birthday. She is doing really well in Preschool. They just had a Valentine’s Party on Thursday and she picked the valentine cards for each child in her class. She was beaming when she brought home her bucket of cards and candy. She looks at them several times a day and wants me to tell her who each card is from. Unfortunately Layla ate the candy, but she didn’t seem to mind, as she still looks at the cards. It’s so cute. Yesterday I spent the entire day cleaning and organizing. I had Sydney help organize a box of her toys. She had a hard time wanting to let go of some things, but she finally would say to me, “We can let other kids have this.” I was proud of her because if she’s anything like me, she’s having a hard time letting go. I enjoy giving her things to do around the house, not only for selfish reasons, but I think she really feels successful when she’s helping and feels good about herself. I think that’s going to be important, especially if she’s anything like me.
Did I say that already?
Sydney started the year in Primary with the CTR 4 class. They added a new class, so instead of her being in CTR 5, she is in CTR 4 with the other 4 year olds. She has a hard time going to Primary when there is change. We also had a big change within our Stake as the ward boundaries changed and we lost a lot of families and added some new ones. She did, however, go to her class today and when she came home she was so excited to show me this picture she drew. I seriously don’t know if she did this. I’ve never seen her draw anything like this before, but she says she did it. Although, she’s been starting to tell little fibs here and there, so it’s hard to know for sure if she drew this. But, if she did I am amazed and think we have a budding artist.
To be perfectly honest, Easton has been a handful. He can’t really help it though as he has been pretty sick. A couple of weeks ago I noticed he felt a little warm when I put him down to be and the next day he had a really high temperature. I was on my way to the emergency room that night when it spiked over 103 degrees, but we decided after consulting with a nurse and Allison, our family nurse, to wait to take him to the pediatrician the next day. It turned out that he had a bilateral ear infection, so once we got him on antiobiotics he improved quickly. The latest with him now is teething. He has no teeth yet! His front ones are so close to coming through, but they are just being so stubborn. So, of course he’s pretty uncomfortable and pretty grumpy. I don’t get much of anything done unless he’s sleeping.
Easton is still a crawler which is fine with me, but in a couple of months, I’m going to be ready for him to start walking if he hasn’t already. I don’t mind at all waiting longer than usual for my kids to walk, but I can only carry so much weight, and Easton is past the limit I can carry.
Easton loves playing with legos now. He finds one and crawls with it all over the house. He has several other toys that he likes and you can tell when he likes them because he sits up on is knees, clenches his fist, and makes a growling noise. I think Josh got a video of him doing this. It’s pretty interesting. Just one of those things that makes him unique.
Well, that’s about all I can write now. I need to go lay down and get better.
Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day.
